There were no cracks, splinters, or rough places that you sometimes find with less expensive wood sets. They do not scratch my non-stick pans at all and so far they have not stained with use, even with tomato sauce. I have put them through the dishwasher with heated dry mode and there was no issues with cracking. Each item had a product sticker on the handle or spoon but they came off very easily and left behind no residue or stain. If you are sending a set as a gift I recommend the gift wrap option as they come all together in a plain plastic bag. These are a great value for the price and I'm happy with my purchase.
